"Oh." So that was his job? Eh, at least it was reassuring that Becky wasn't try to do that. Then again, he didn't think it would be that bad if she was either. Now that he was thinking about it, having Becky tag along wouldn't be all that bad. After all, he was used to having her tag along back in the days when he was back in Illusia. This was pretty much the same thing, though on a much bigger scale. The context of her tagging along was much different, but the result was the same.
As dense as he was, he could still tell that Becky liked him or at the very least had some inkling of feelings toward him. The whole idea in itself was slightly weird for him, maybe it was because he wasn't a very touchy-feely type of person. Physical contact in itself was awkward for him let alone an actual emotion connection. He still didn't even know what to make of what Becky was saying about him and her being together.
The blond scanned over Becky's body for a moment. She was far from ugly, yet it was still weird for him to attempt to think about her other then just plain ole Becky. He'd pull away from her and turn his back, mostly out of embarrassment. "I'll try my best not to hurt you...Becky." He could never hurt her physically, such a thing was beyond even his realm of ruthlessness. But emotionally, he wasn't as keen and the last thing he wanted to was hurt her. Max was just such a mess and keeping others out was always on the agenda. He doubted he could ever really let someone into his heart fully, even if they were cute.
"I'll propose to you when I'm the Pirate King. We can go anywhere you want when that happens. I'm not that special or romantic, but I'll do my best." He'd say in a rather hushed tone, struggling to get out his feelings once more. He wasn't sure if he loved Becky or anything like that, but it would be awkward to like any other female after this point.

Pirate King... Becky hardly even knew what that meant, and she knew even less why he dreamed of becoming such a thing when there were so many other people who had the same dream. King of the Pirates couldn't mean anything unless everyone agreed to look at you as such, and it wasn't as though if he became King of the Pirates, he'd be granted with some type of immortality. However, she would say nothing about his dream to become Pirate King. She realized that she was much too late to change his mind about anything. He had his dream, and if she said anything against it, it would likely just upset him.
Thus, she simply stood there with a smile on her face. She stood there, posed with obviously a bit of nervousness. She rubbed her right elbow with the palm of her left hand, just behind her back. Her cheeks blushed a bit red. She looked at him standing there with his back turned toward her. Though after a couple seconds, she averted her eyes.
"You know, I think you just proposed already," she giggled softly. But of course, without the ring, it wasn't a real proposal, right? Every girl was supposed to get a ring when her fiance proposed to her. Still, the gesture was equally as romantic to her, and it made her feel just as warm on the inside.
"If you had a ring, I would say yes. Next time have a ring," Becky said. She then took a few steps forward such that she was standing shoulder to shoulder with Max. She reached down and seized his hand again such that their hands were down at their sides.
"And when we're married, then, I guess I'll be Pirate Queen... is that a real position?"

"Er, I did?" The pirate thought about it for a moment and he had come to the conclusion that maybe he did. If he wasn't even quite sure if he did then quite possibly it didn't count all that much. But females always hung onto even the smallest of details, something he learned from Becky herself so maybe he was locked into the agreement he had just made.
"R-right, a r-ring. Of course." A silent sigh of relief found its way out from his pursed lips, marking the fact that he was no where near ready to make such a leap into a relationship. What did relationships even consist of? Weren't romantic relationships really hard to keep up? Is that what Becky really wanted from him? How could she even like a killer like himself, was it even possible? Max was about ready to tear his hair out simply because of the fact that he couldn't fully understand her.
Though, when she forced their hands together he had begun to feel a little bit calmer. Now he realized why keeping her around was such a good idea, she always kept him calm somehow. The warmth of her body and her presence always seemed to warm up his cold personality just a bit. "Who knows? I don't think pirates usually get married. But since I'll be the Pirate King and I made a promise, I'll have to make such a title real so I can keep that promise." In other words, as long as he becomes the Pirate King he'll keep his promise to her.

"Then I'll do everything I can to help you meet your dream then," Becky made her end of a promise as well, though how much she could help him she wasn't sure. She truly hoped that she didn't somehow end up holding him back. However, her primary goal was simply making sure that he was okay and didn't end up getting himself killed somehow. She leaned toward him and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek, though it lasted only momentarily before she pulled away.
Perhaps he would think her kiss was a bit awkward. After all, they had been friends for such a long time, but never had they done anything romantic or sexual. This current situation, Max having run away, however, had helped her to realize how much she wanted him in her life. She couldn't bare the thought of never seeing him again, and wasn't that what it meant to be truly in love? All the while, it was a bit painful to think that he was willing to leave her behind. She wouldn't ask him about that now.
"So, where is it that we're heading, Captain?" Becky asked him with a smile. Where they were going really didn't matter to her that much at this point. She did hope that wherever it was though it wouldn't be too dangerous.

Somehow having someone who was committed to seeing his dream through by his side made him feel at ease somewhat. To know that he had someone at his side at all times, it was something totally new for him. Was this what they meant when it came nakama? This meant that she was his nakama and that he'd have to rely on her at times. Well, maybe not all that, but still he'd use her as best as he could.
The peck on the cheek was the seal for their little deal apparently. Though if he was going to go for this type of living situation then he was going to make sure to take advantage of it one hundred percent. The blond pirate would step in toward Becky, attempting to steal a kiss from her. He wasn't stealing the kiss, he was simply going to take it and there would be no chance for her to not accept it.
"Everywhere."
That would be his only answer, as even he couldn't tell her exactly where they were going. First the Grand Line and then to the Red Line and then to the New World. Once they were in the New World they would definitely be so close to One Piece that could pretty much smell it.
"I'll be the Pirate King soon enough."

Becky blushed as his lips met her cheek. It really did feel nice to have her love returned. She blushed, just at the thought that they could be close together whenever they wanted now. It was a bit of a relieving feeling. And now, as outlaws on the run from her old thoughts of society, she could get close to this boy whenever she wanted and however she wanted and there was no one who could stop her. Her father was far away and he would not be there to pull her away from the boy... or scare the boy off.
Granted, she knew that she was going to miss her father, and she did love him. But at the same time, running off with the boy she loved... well, that was something of an adventure- a dream that she wanted to live. Unfortunately, she knew that for this excitement, it was very possible that she would never be able to go back to her old life.
"Everywhere is a lot of places," Becky said. She was now walking with Maximus, hand in hand. Of course, their destination was unknown, apparently to both of them. They had to have somewhere to go, especially if they were planning to go at sea. It would be crazy not to. After all, how could they be sure they'd have enough supplies.
"If we're going by sea, then we're going to need to know how many supplies we'll need to survive the journey. And in order to do that, we're going to need to know how long we're at sea... speaking of which, where's your boat?"

She did make a pretty valid point about needing to know where they were going so they had the right supplies and plenty of them. However, it didn't seem as though she had caught onto their current plight and really he wasn't all that worried about it himself. After all, not having a ship while trying to be a pirate wasn't that difficult or maybe it was. That was the reason why he was stuck in Loguetown up until now.
"Well we should go to the North Blue. There's an annual race they have up there with the fastest ships. Most of those ships are pirate ships outfitted with the best equipment. We're going to go steal ourselves a pirate ship." He said those with a slight smirk, already turned on by the challenge itself. Max wasn't the type of person to hang onto inheritances but rather the type of person to take whatever the hell it was that he wanted.
By force or whatever method he could come up with would work for him just as long as it delivers results. It didn't matter if she agreed or disagreed with the plan, she was going to go along with it regardless. For now, he was the captain.
"About my boat, let's just say it's parked and ready." In other words, he was just going to steal one or something along those lines. He was going to be the Pirate King so everything was his anyways, right? "We'll just need enough supplies for a few days. What do you figure we'd need?"

"Oh, you did?" Becky asked him curiously. She wondered what kind of boat it was that he had managed to get for himself. She knew that he hadn't had a boat in Illusia, but things had really changed. Perhaps even his father had had a boat which Maximus had managed to steal from him. She couldn't be sure, but she also didn't really care that much. So long as they had a way to travel, she wasn't too worried.
Becky reached into her skirt's pocket and pulled out her wallet. She opened it up and began to count it a bit. There was obviously plenty of money inside of it. One could say that she was loaded, to an extent. But all the while, she wasn't exactly rich either. She had taken much of this money from her father before she had left home. After a few more moments of counting, she, placed the wallet back into her pocket and held onto Maximus' hand once more.
"Well, if you have a working boat, food is the most important luxury that we'll need. Fresh water would be nice as well, though if necessary, we can make it on your ship," Becky attested. If they got all the supplies they needed, she wanted to be sure that at the very least, neither of them would have to go hungry at any point of their journey.
"You don't have a crew yet, I'm assuming... by the fact you were all alone?" She asked curiously. "That's good... because... it means we'll get to be together in private."
In truth, she didn't like the idea of having a bunch of smelly pirates nearby either. She wondered how many of them actually took proper baths. But, Max still seemed clean. Perhaps it was because he wasn't a barbarian.

The blond rolled his eyes ever so slight, as she couldn't seem to tell he was blatantly lying about their boat situation. However, maybe it was how naive she was that made her a little cuter to him. Though she would end up learning about the fact that he was indeed lying, but he wasn't really caring about the consequences about that. At most, what would happen is that she'd get upset...for a little bit.
"Yeah food and water sounds perfect. But it'll be just us two so we shouldn't require too much." He had pretty much repeated back what Becky had just said only a moment ago. She was a pretty bright person when she put her head to it, hence why Max kept her around all this time.
"Together..in..private?" What did she mean by that? They were together now, but why did she put so much emphasis on the "in private" part? Oh man, what kind of mess had he gotten himself into this time?
As far as he knew, Becky was just as dumbfounded as he was although Max was a bit more keen when it came to street smarts. If anything, he wondered if what she said had any special meaning behind it...such as the obvious possible answer.

"That's what I said," Becky reinforced. It didn't seem like he understood exactly what she meant, and what she had meant, was simply that they would be together in private... nothing more really. However, the two of them had never really hung out without some kind of supervision. At school, there were the teachers. At home, her father always watched the two of them with a hawk eye, and of course, she wasn't allowed to go over to his house without her own father being there... it would simply be different.
"Like. I don't know. It'll just be weird, but cool all at the same time," Becky confessed to him. She was already growing a bit excited. With her hand still holding his, she began to swing their hands playfully back and forth. This action served as an outlet to her anticipation.
"Oh, and of course, my Dad never would have let us kiss," she added before kissing him on the cheek once more. If her father had seen it, this would have meant the end of their friendship. Of course, if her father knew that she was running off with Max right now, it wouldn't have made him very fond of the boy either.
"But you know, my Dad really likes you regardless. He thought you were a really good friend to me. If there was any reason he didn't trust you, it's because you're a boy and that's that. Dad doesn't really like boys much."

"Right. Your father is worrier, after all." Though now that he thought about it, there really was a lot of supervision when it came to Becky hanging out with people...particularly with him. But now that daddy wasn't around that meant they could do whatever they very well wanted. Obviously, Max hadn't come to any overly mature conclusions as of yet but he was thinking of a couple things for sure.
"He probably wouldn't have. But I'm a man of conviction, I do what I want." Sarcasm flowed forth from the youth's mouth, though he was being partially honest. He really did do what he wanted and if he wanted to kiss Becky then he'd do it. It just so happened to be that he didn't think about kissing her up until she had already kissed him once.
"He won't like me now that I'm a dangerous pirate. But that's fine, it doesn't bother me not a bit." Honestly, he liked Becky's dad much more than he liked his own..obviously. Becky's father was a man of character who always stuck to his word and every action was worthy of being called a manly approach.
Max would lead Becky toward the docks where all the ships in Loguetown were waiting for their owners to come set sail or simply resupplying. A lot of the time there were only one or two people on these ships to protect them. He was definitely capable of defeating two pirates by himself, given they weren't very strong.

"I sure am going to miss him, but... we're going back to Illusia eventually, I'm sure," Becky said. She had no intention of never going back home. It was just, hopefully it wouldn't be too long and hopefully her father wouldn't worry about her too much. She'd have to make sure to send her a letter so that he would know what she was up to... or at least so that he would know she was alive. Regardless, for now it was time for her own adventures with Maximus.
It wasn't long before Maximus and Becky made it to a boating dock. There were boats all over the place. Ships of all different kinds, shapes and sizes. Becky looked around anxiously, as she wondered to which ship it was that he was leading her to.
"So, which of these boats is yours?" Becky asked him. She honestly wasn't expecting anything too luxurious. After all, it was Maximus that she was with. He had just left on his own journey, and she wasn't sure if he had much money of his own to begin with.

"Maybe." He wouldn't rule out the possibility that he might return, but as of now he really didn't ever want to see that rotting island that they were from. Traveling the seas and seeing new places was much more enjoyable for someone such as himself. But he could see why Becky kept saying those things, she had something to go back to whenever she wanted.
After walking down the docks a bit, the blond pirate stopped at this older yet sturdy schooner. Yep, it was big enough to be seafaring yet small enough for it be operated by a fairly small crew such as themselves. It was a ship fit for a pirate who just needed to use once or twice to cross the ocean.
There were a couple middle aged men attending to the boat, making them the probable crew for such a ship. "This one is ours." The blond would say as he would travel across the plank to board the ship. "Stay here, I want to see how things are going with the ship."
The two men instantly stood at attention, looking at the young pirate rather suspiciously. "Ay! Kiddo, get off 'er ship. Or we'll kick yer ass!"
Without hesitation he would draw one of his katana. "You're being boarded. Abandon ship or abandon your life." The older of the two men would start laughing. As hardened fishermen they hardly seen a kid as a threat, causing him to point and laugh at Max to the point where he began to tear up that was until a single sword stroke caused him the loss of his right hand.
Laughter turned to horror as the fisherman realized how great his loss was as blood poured forth from his great wound. And with a single kick to the chest he went flying overboard into the ocean. As for the second fisherman, it seemed as though he was getting his flintlock pistol from his waistband.
Getting into his stance, the two males had a stand off. It would seem like the fisherman had the advantage because of the range of the flintlock pistol, but Max had some tricks up his sleeve. The pirate drew in a single breath, raising up his katana so that the sword was raised horizontally as if he were getting ready to strike. With a single glint of sunlight off of the jewel on the butt of his katana, the man was blinded causing him to miss his shot by mere inches all the while Max closed that short distance of a mere ten yards almost instantly.
"AH MY EYES! F-FUCK WHERE IS H-" A single sword stroke to the neck later and it seemed as though a head was rolling on the top deck. Damn, he should have abandoned ship when he had the chance. Good thing his buddy was pretty proficient at swimming with only one hand or he wouldn't be faring too well either.
"Terasu no Tayouheki." The blond pirate said coolly as he flicked the blood off of the black blade, sheathing his katana with such subtly. However, the bloodshed did cause quite the commotion, especially with the nearby residents who were quite fond of the men. Ah, things could get hairy if they didn't something fast. Like leave.

"EEEEK!"
Becky had made the mistake of following Max onto the ship, which had resulted in her seeing those horrific visions of the men being killed right before her eyes. It was something from a horror movie to her. She had never wanted to see anything like that. She stood there with her hands over her eyes. She hadn't watched any of it, but quite frankly the sounds of their murders and screams was more than enough for her to envision what was going non.
Her only hope now was that she didn't somehow end up getting involved into this. What if they tried to kill her. When had Max become such a ruthless killer? Maybe life was beginning not to mean anything to him anymore. It made her wonder what her life really meant to him now.
Of course, her eyes had been covered ever since the first man had lost his hand. She hadn't seen anything after that, thank goodness, not even the second man's gruesome decapitation. After some moments, all of the noise died off and Becky slowly lowered her hands.... and it was a mistake. For it was then that she saw the head rolling on the ground. Her hands quickly flew up to her eyes once more and she covered them.
"MAXIMUS! How could you?! Oh my God!"

The young pirate looked over at his female cohort and shrugged his shoulders quite passively, not really valuing the life he had just taken. Who really cared about two old fishermen? Not him, quite naturally, but it seemed that Becky had a type of empathy that was overpowering to her other emotions.
"Tch, I told you to wait off the ship." That was his defense and only defense. Granted he didn't want her to witness such things, but if she didn't follow his instructions then he couldn't be blamed for what she saw. If she kept doing things like that then it was out of his hands what kind of trauma it would cause. Hell, he washed his hands with liability completely and felt no remorse whatsoever.
As a crowd began to gather, he could see marines coming off in the distance. Scrambling to the stern of the ship, Max found the rope tying them to the dock and hastily cut it. They were setting sail right now, there was no other choice. Once things got beyond a two on one situation, he hardly doubted he could handle it. In other words, they would be bombarded by Marines and taken away to prison for sure.
Although Max wasn't as knowledgeable or experienced as most pirates, he did know how to sail fairly well. Or at least well enough to get them the hell off of the island. With the sails raised and crowd yelling at them at shore, the small schooner would quickly skirt off the shore and toward the open ocean.
"Take the helm, we're getting the hell out of here."
