She moved fast, and I liked that. To the point, at least, with a little provocation. Part of me was concerned with the kid’s cooking, but I supposed that was the point of the test. Which it seemed she had already decided on, because we were moving. South, or so she said, to the nearest beach. That seemed natural, considering the nature of what I’d be tested on, though I couldn’t help but wonder what the last thing she mentioned was.
“Aallottaret? Sounds like the name of a ship,” I noted, mostly thinking aloud. “I’ll assume that’s the ship you stole?” I couldn’t help but wonder what she would do to assure our skills were sound. Maybe this “Aallottaret” was damaged, or maybe she just wanted me to improve it. I wasn’t worried about it, though, since I was confident enough in my skills. What worried me more was, after whatever test was given to us, who would be the one to sample the kid’s cooking.
I’d remain silent for most of the walk to the beach, unless I was spoken to directly. The snow was fairly deep and still falling lightly, but I was able to shrug off the cold despite wearing nothing but a thin white, short-sleeved shirt since my button-up was drenched in booze. Once the beach came into view, I shook my head, sending little bits of snow sprinkling down around me, and I broke my silence.
“I’m Bastion, by the way,” I said. It was simple, but that’s all it needed to be. Hotaru had already introduced herself, after all. If this was seriously going to happen--if I was going to join a crew again--we’d at the very least need to know each other’s names. Though, deep down, I knew that if we really wanted to survive, we’d have to grow a lot closer than that.

“Aye aye, cap’n.” Axcel responded, acknowledging her request regarding not getting the crew sick. He could manage that. Hopefully. If not—well, then he would be doing the crew a favor by forcing them to build up their immunity system! Aw yeah, Axcel was basically a part time cook and part time doctor now.
When the woman moved, Axcel made sure to follow her towards their destination: Aallottaret. He wasn’t quite sure what that was, at least, not until the male had brought up the possibility of it being a ship. A stolen one at that. Axcel’s eyes were gleaming with excitement by now. His imagination began to race, cycling through different images of ships that the Aallottaret could be like.
The silence that had filled the air was eventually broken by the white haired male introducing himself as a Bastion. Axcel almost mistook his name for ‘bastard’. Stifling a chuckle, Axcel dramatically pointed his thumb to himself before speaking.
“My name is Axcel Z. Sykes,” he spoke with an emphasis on the letter Z. “Also—are we there yet?”

With introductions out of the way, Hotaru, Axcel, and Bastion would leave the snowy little town and travel to the village in the south where the Aallottaret and Triton awaited.
"Lets pick up the pace! I wanna get back to the beach!"
Her strides lengthened and her speed increased, hoping to put the boring little hamlet behind her as quickly as possible. [/blockquote]

"Alright! To the beach then!" Axcel exclaimed as his fist thrust upwards towards the sky. He picked up his pace in order to match Hotaru's, not checking whether Bastion would follow as well. The girl was pretty fast, though he could not accurately gauge how much faster she was than himself as neither of them were moving anywhere near as fast as they could.
Though it was still cold, Axcel could feel the snow began to die down as they approached the beach.

As I recalled, although the south beach was the closest, we still had a bit of a walk before us. Hopefully I wouldn’t develop frostbite, considering my lack of proper clothing. I imagined how much of a waste of time this would be if things didn’t turn out like I wanted them to, but I supposed I didn’t have anything left in that shithole anyways. Maybe I’d just make myself a ship, if that happened, and take off to sea alone. Still, even though I had my doubts, some part of me had a hope that this would be the start to a new life. Hopefully I wasn’t too optimistic.
The two in front of me seemed so excited to get to the beach. I increased my pace to match Axcel’s and Hotaru’s, trudging through the snow with my heavy, steel-plated boots and sinking deep with every step. The sun was shining bright, despite the cold and the snow, reflecting off of the pure white laid out before us, almost like a mirror. Part of me was curious as to what their ship looked like, how it was designed. I’d find out soon.
