HEIWAISM I decided to make a religion for my character and just for fun I wrote out their views and basically outlined the entire religion. This is mainly just in case anyone wanted to join up and be a part of the religion. It could possibly be interesting plot or something. Preferably, characters that join should have an arrancar from bleach FC since that's what I based the religion's uniform on, but it's really a personal choice if they wear the uniform or not.

BASIC STRUCTURE [anchor=main]MAIN FOCUS The main focus of Heiwaism is to practice kindness. Their belief is that by being kind it makes the one you are kind to happy and if one is happy they are more prone to being kind. The Book urges followers to aid those who need help and to not condone violence. It also states that one should not make assumptions simply by the way someone acts or looks. They believe that there is always some good in a being and that no matter how small that good is, it can be expanded.
[anchor=book]HOLY BOOK Heiwanists do not have a holy book. Instead they have a book simply referred to as 'The Book'. It is written by a man named Ezekiel Cross, though most simply refer to him as 'The Founder'. The Book simply explains The Founder's views on life and acts as a guideline for life.
[anchor=hierarchy]HIERARCHY There is no hierarchy or real organization. There are no popes, priests or anything of the sort. The only guidance a follower has is written within The Book. The belief is that one should interpret the text as they feel it is, rather than be told by some sort of leader what it means.
[anchor=holiday]HOLIDAYS Despite the lack of organization there is a single important day for a Heiwanist. Each year on the same day all practicing Heiwanists are invited to come to a meeting, a party of sorts. It simply acts as a way to take census and get to know one another better. Due to the nature of their work, some Heiwanists lack jobs and so the meeting also acts as a way to financially help other Heiwanists.
[anchor=uniform]UNIFORM Mainly, Heiwanists act as missionaries of sorts. They go out and help those who are in need and travel around. As such, in The Book The Founder suggests that one should wear a uniform consisting of white robes with some black accents as a way to state their beliefs. He also suggests that one modifies the basic idea of the uniform to fit personal tastes or as a family tradition.

THE DIVINE [anchor=god]GOD Heiwanists don't believe in a set god. The Book doesn't even say that one must believe in a god. The Founder states that he believes in a higher being, but that it is his personal belief and that one should decide whether there is a god, multiple gods or none at all. The belief is that whether or not there is a god should not effect how one treats others.
[anchor=divine]DIVINE PUNISHMENT Due to the lack of a set god there is nothing much stated in The Book about divine punishment. The Founder urges followers to not believe that a god will punish someone for their wrong doings. That one should punish themselves. They believe that regardless of whether or not a divine being intervenes and punishes someone for something does not mean the person will repent. True punishment is when a person realizes their mistakes and has to live with those facts forever. Gods rarely, openly, punish others and so it is up to a persons fellow man to point out and show another the mistakes they have made. Once a person his shown the errors of their way they can then repent and correct their ways to live happily in a way that allows others to be happy as well.
[anchor=after]AFTERLIFE Like with The Books statements on god, there is no set belief in the afterlife. The Founder does state his own personal belief in reincarnation, but urges others to believe in what makes them most at peace. It is believed that one should avoid believing in afterlives that are dependent on pleasing a god or karma for it detracts from the real reason why one does good. It turns good deeds into a necessity and a chore rather than something one truly wants to do.

ROMANTIC RELATIONS [anchor=marriage]MARRIAGE Heiwanists, as with things pertaining to the divine, do not believe in any sort of set marriage ritual. They believe that marriage is a life milestone and should be celebrated as they wish for it to be, whether that is bedding their spouse or a full-fledged wedding.
[anchor=sexuality]SEXUALITY There is no discrimination against homosexuals, bisexuals, hermaphrodites, transsexuals, etc. They believe that one should express their love and feelings as they feel them. If it makes them happy to be with one of the same gender or to become the opposite gender and it's hurting no one, then there is no reason not to do it.
[anchor=celibacy]CELIBACY Most Heiwanists believe that one should wait until marriage to have sexual relations with another. The belief is that one should devote their mind and self to a person, and that in the early stages of a relationship one can easily have their mind clouded by physical pleasure. The clouded mind can make one forget about the true meaning of being in a relationship. Heiwanists believe that if one is willing to make a major commitment like marriage then, usually, they are close enough to emotionally to enjoy physical pleasure as a way to be closer with their partner rather than for simple physical enjoyment.
[anchor=divorce]DIVORCE Divorce is frowned upon. If one follows the celibacy guidelines they believe that there should be no need for divorce. The only reason why one should separate with another is if there is physical abuse. The belief is, that emotionally things can be worked out to a point where both can agree.

DISCRIMINATION [anchor=mp]MARINES & PIRATES Due to the belief that everyone is good Heiwanists do not hate marines or pirates. They frown upon both sides use of violence. The Book suggests that whenever possible one should try and mediate a confrontation between a pirate and marine whenever possible, and to try to find a peaceful solution. They also do not judge if a fellow Heiwanist chooses to become a pirate or marine so long as they don't become violent because of it.
[anchor=violence]VIOLENCE Being pacifists, Heiwanists do not condone or participate in violence. They understand that the world is dangerous, filled with violent people and creatures. They make up for this by condoning the use of defensive martial arts. The Book states that they should avoid the use of weapons since they only aid violence.
[anchor=children]CHILDREN Sexual relations under the age of eighteen are not condoned. This is a reflection of their belief that one must be emotionally and mentally connect, as well as married, to have sexual relations. They believe that those under the age of eighteen are not emotionally mature enough to make a decision about something as important as marriage.
[anchor=animals]ANIMALS Heiwanists aren't vegetarians, but they don't condone animal cruelty. They believe that animals deserve respect and kindness all the way up until their death. So long as the animal has had a good life and is put to good use after death they see no problem.
[anchor=nonhuman]NON-HUMANS As is the current pattern, Heiwanists don't discriminate. They view humanoids as humans so long as they can speak a human language.
[anchor=science]SCIENCE Science and inventions that improve upon life are welcomed with open arms by Heiwanists. The only kind of science that they frown upon are weapons. This puts their view on cyborgs in a difficult position. While cyborgs can be helpful in improving others lives they are also being used for violence.
[anchor=or]OTHER RELIGIONS There is no discrimination when it comes to other religions. The Book teaches that religions help people be at peace with their lives. So long as the religions are not violent they are just as good as any other religion.

END NOTE [anchor=end]If you would like to have a character who is a member of the religion, by all means do so! I would appreciate it if you'd post in this thread if you do plan to do so. Also, if there's anything you think that I missed or that I should cover please tell me! I'm sure I didn't think of everything.
