With no navigator, there was no way to know exactly where they had ended up. Though she had never sailed this particular sea, Hotaru ventured a guess that they had come ashore somewhere in Lyneel Kingdom based on the flora and general geography. Their boat was moored on a sandy beach, and the anchor was dropped to ensure security.
“Where the hell are we...”
Hotaru mused, looking around the deserted beach. She jumped off of the bow of the ship and a small plume of sand wafted into the air as she touched down on terra firma. Black and white sneakers covered her feet, tied tightly so no sand got between the canvas shoes and her skin. She wore white denim capri pants a navy blue jacket that was open down the front, revealing a bright cyan bikini top covering her chest. Her newly modified spear that was upgraded with parts found around the ship hung off her back, and her red and yellow locks were tied back in a ponytail.
“Hey Triton, ya think people even live around here? We need to find a navigator before we leave unless you wanna keep drifting aimlessly at sea...”
She took a few steps forward and inhaled the strange aroma of sea salt, flowers, and pine trees.
“Guess theres no harm in looking around...”
Continuing down the beach, Hotaru and Triton were about half a mile from the nearest village, a distance which they would cross unless they somehow encountered a navigator in the forest. Likely reaching the town’s edge uninterrupted, Hotaru would seek out the nearest tavern which, in her experience, was the best place to get information. Whether they stuck together or split up on their search was up to Triton, but they would likely not leave the town without someone at the helm.

At long last they'd reached land, their minimal knowledge giving them ability to traverse calms seas such as the blues with little trouble, but without much skill either. They had no idea where they were going, so it wasn't surprising they would have to settle for landing on some random beach - now that Triton thought about it, would he have been able to steer the ship into a proper dock anyway? He decided not to even worry about it, the ship was secured here and they were bound to find people somewhere - and considering this was an ISLAND there was bound to be somebody here skilled at sailing... right? "Shit, beats me!" Triton stepped off the boat, his large frame dropping quickly onto the beach, sand shooting out to the sides with a thud. He dressed appropriately for the warm weather, a simple white tanktop and a pair of baggy cargo shorts, and of course his bright-red bandana. The only thing that made him stand out would of course be the anchor chained to his back, Triton never wanting to be without his handy weapon, despite how damn it was annoying to carry around sometimes! "There's bound to be a town around here somewhere. . ." He looked left and right, as if one would jump out of the trees at any moment, unfortunately he would be disappointed. As things were, the duo would be stuck walking, and eventually they would've found themselves in the presence of civilization at last! It turns out they picked the right direction to walk in, because it wasn't even that long before they'd come upon a village, their first stop the most obvious place to look for a Pirate, (and maybe Triton wanted a drink anyways) the tavern of course! With a sense of excitement due to his new surroundings, the rather large Pirate would shove his way through the front door, being sure not to hit anything or anybody with the anchor on his back, "Beer!" He shouted across the room, obviously directing it towards the bartender, but seeing as he'd just entered he didn't know where exactly that person would be. He spun his head in all different directions, blue eyes searching for the person who could give him such a beverage - no doubt getting a few odd looks from the patrons in the mean time.

At least, not yet. The blonde sat upon the corner of the village's tavern, holding within his grasp a mug of ale. His left arm hung lifelessly by his side, hand hovering over the duffel bag that was carrying his personal belongings. Well, not entirely. It had been a last-minute decision, pending the sudden increase of his bounty in his own home. See, just a week ago, the swordsman and another pirate, Daniella Blackwater, had succeeded in stealing this golden statue off a drunk merchant in his home, and although Cain had figured themselves to be safe from repercussions with their approach, they had been discovered nonetheless. Daniella had perhaps escaped to her crew, the Black Rose Pirates, but Cain had no such escape plan.
The only thing he could do to escape his sudden 7 million berri bounty was to get the hell out of the Kingdom. And that was what he did, on the very same moment he first saw his WANTED poster. He sighed, bringing the mug up onto his lips, taking in a sip of the alcohol, with the subconscious intention of drinking away his worries.
He was a fugitive in his own home. And with this, his path seemed to have been set. He set the mug back down, a soft sigh escaping his lips, as he reached up, adjusting the silver chain that held his short crimson cloak around his neck. He was clad in that favourite leather jacket of his, over a white wifebeater. A pair of cream-coloured pants accompanied the attire, completed then by a pair of old leather shoes. Harpe stayed within its sheathe, located above the duffel bag to his left, as it rested upon it.
Another sip off the ale, and the 22-year-old allowed himself to contemplate on his situation again. What was he to do now? No way could he just give himself in. Before, he simply wanted to sail to see the world, but as of now, his short-term goal was to find a way to get out of this island. He was being hunted here, after all.
And then, his eyes would be pulled off the table as the doors swung open, and there, in its wake, was a large man who called out his order from where he stood. Cain's eyes would widen in curiousity, as he gave a few blinks towards the individual. Who was this? And what was this about?
Could he be... Perhaps... A pirate?

Had anyone seen her going up there, she would have probably been yelled at and all the other such things that would go with being a general nuisance. If they only knew what the woman had done just the other day however, no one in this podunk town would even get near her. The fruit she had found recently was now digested and with it came a new power. But the power was not priceless... Rin still debated whether or not it was worth the loss of her ability to swim. This skeptical woman had even tested it, going into a nearby hot spring and with only a smallish portion of her body exposed, she could feel the lost strength echo through her body. Needless to say she took no time in finishing her bath and exiting, making note not to ever get in a bath deep enough that she could drown if she tripped the wrong way. A small piece of snow perched right on the end of her nose, turning to water and dripping down her face, also managing to interrupt her musings. "I need to find a ship or a crew soon or I might be stuck in this landlocked calm belt forever." She said to no one in particular but herself. It was then that she noticed another set of people that stuck out like a sore thumb. A man and woman made their way into the bar below. Along with them, she had also caught site of her play thing from a few days ago with a rather worried look on his face enter not too long ago as well. With that many interesting people in one bar, something was bound to happen, and as of now, Rin had no known bounty. Her ability was still a secret. Not only that, but while she had become a pirate, no crimes had been committed in her name, so she was nameless here. Her entering the bar would go more or less unnoticed by the patrons, save the man that called himself Cain. Hotaru sighed as Triton requested alcohol to the entire bar. It was a good thing she hadn't planned on keeping a low profile, since their subtle factor was blown before they had even started looking for their navigator. While her first mate scanned the tavern for his first drink, Hotaru's eyes darted around for anyone who might stand out as being useful.
A few men with swords could be seen, but they seemed to have been in the tavern for a while, their eyes glazed over with a heavy haze of liquor. A blonde boy with a duffle bag watched from his stool, and Hotaru could tell something was different. He didn't appear to be intoxicated, but rather lost and down on his luck. A rather exotic sword was strapped to his waist, but other than that, he didn't do anything interesting enough for her to want to approach him.
If and when Triton had secured his stein of beer, Hotaru would casually nudge him to finish his drink quickly.
"Hurry up and down that. This bar seems like a dead end. I doubt anyone in here is smart enough to even pick up a map much less navigate the open sea. Once you're done we can try the local inn."
Though Hotaru would normally have joined in having a drink or two with her first mate, she hated small towns and wanted to spend as little time here as possible so they could return to a larger city and start treasure hunting. As she waited for Triton to finish his beer, she continued to scan the bar, looking for anyone with any obvious navigation skills that she may have missed. [/blockquote]

Triton imagined he stood out, yelling loudly as he was in a place that was pretty far from home. He didn't look the part of a villager as it was already, nevermind the large anchor on him, or his obvious lack of manners, but even with all this, the crowd in the tavern didn't seem too bad. There were armed men of course, but nobody that looked threatening, so with a large smirk and loud footsteps Triton could walk himself over to the bar, hands on his hips and he approached the bartender,
"I think you heard me from back there, a big one please!"
Thankfully the man behind the counter was quick, a large mug had been pulled out and filled to the rim with beer, Trition impatiently sipping at the foam as he pulled the drink closer to him. He figured if he was only going to have one drink, he might as well enjoy it, and without particular haste he'd take a seat next to some blonde kid (Cain), it being one of the only available seats, and dive into his drink with a few massive gulps.
"Why don't you have one too?"
He cocked his head to the side, bright blue eyes pointed in Hotaru's direction. He knew they were here there on business, technically, but he figured it couldn't hurt to enjoy themselves, and maybe getting to know a few people would go a longer ways than they thought!
"We aren't exactly going anywhere until we find somebody to steer the ship anyways!"
He probably spoke more openly about it than he should have, but he was face-first into some beer and wasn't caring much, heck, he needed a drink or two after all this!
"C'mon and celebrate, we're supposed to be dangerous criminals now, aren't we?"
He drug out the last few words on purpose, making fun of the fact they were branded as criminals now, posters with their faces no doubt being put up somewhere. What was the fun in being a Pirate if you weren't doing what you wanted to?

The possibility of them being the 'unique' locals of the town was definitely out of question, so that meant that they were either simple bandits, travellers -- heavily armed travellers, mind you --, bounty hunters or better yet, pirates. With that last possibility in mind, of course Cain would pay a whole lot more attention of them. If they were indeed pirates and had a ship, then they could be his ticket, not only off this island, but also to the world beyond. Though, what he was thinking of then was whether or not these guys held a significant amount of influence and authority upon their ship to allow him in. He knew close to nothing about them at that moment.
Now, how was he going to solve that? Perhaps once they had settled down to drink, Cain could move to join them, introduce himself and the likes. Charm his way into their good books, as he always had. He smirked to himself, as his eyes moved down to the mug. Looks like this wasn't such a bad day after all. You know what they say about opportunities. When one door closes, a lot more opens up.
However, what came next was something he hardly expected, as the large figure of a man suddenly sat beside him, Cain almost jumping upon his appearance as he turned to gaze at the man, slightly wide-eyed. And he watched as the man downed the drink without pause, obviously seeking to drive himself into an alcoholic state.
"We aren't exactly going anywhere until we find somebody to steer the ship anyways!"
Oh? They were in need of a navigator? Well, there was some good and bad in that. Good in that it meant that they were actually undermanned, and probably needed more people upon the ship. Bad in that there was the possibility the only type of person they needed was a navigator, and Cain wasn't exactly the best there was. His knowledge of geography was isolated to Lyneel Kingdom.
Cain stared at him, blinking. Could this be true? Criminals? What, were they pirates? Then, it was confirmed. They were not bounty hunters or bandits. Well, bandits could be true, but what bandits used a ship and needed a navigator. "Don't mind me being rude, and if I may make a wild guess at this... You're a bunch of pirates that has made a pitstop here, in hopes of finding a navigator?... And perhaps, a few more men to join your merry--"
Cain would stop midspeech, as his alert blue eyes caught upon a new presence in the bar. A familiar dark-skinned female, the same one that he had hit on a few nights back and ended up engaging in a cat-and-mouse verbal game with? He blinked once again. This day was simply full of surprises. His eyes never leaving Rin, his subconscious brought him to finish his words.
"--crew?"

An extremely loud voice was getting riled up and yelling about this and that. The red haired woman from earlier seemed passive about it, but her partner was the offender in this case. He seemed rather happy to be spouting off things that could easily draw the marines down on a group of pirates if he was telling the truth. But one statement drew her attention more than the rest as she sat down on the other side of Cain. They needed a person to steer the ship. What luck this could end up being. Rin wanted to join a pirate crew and get off of this rock and they needed a navigator, which Rin specialized in. It brought a smile to her face as she ordered the same drink she had the other night when Rin had gotten to know the man now sitting beside her looking more or less worse for ware. He didn't exude the same aura he had the other night... something interesting must have happened. But that was second on her list at the moment. Investigating the newcomers was the number one. "You know, shouting about being criminals could draw bounty hunters and marines if you aren't careful." She said, almost cat-like. Cain would remember the tone as she used it with him almost the entire night. The tan skinned woman shrugged, her sweater was annoying her by compressing her wings. Maybe if she could finally find a crew and set sail, Rin could free herself of any bindings of race or authority and become what she truly wanted to be. She longed for that day with all her being. But that didn't stop the game. "If you think about it, It seems rather foolhardy to bring the marines down on you if you can't even escape on your ship." Her playful tone masked the seriousness of what she was saying. Though usually not one to act like a 'stick in the mud,' Triton's audacity and carelessness was starting to make Hotaru uneasy. After all, they were in a strange place far away from home. They had no idea just what kind of rules this town had in place, how tight the world government's clutches were on this village, or even if there were marine's out of uniform in the bar.
The mere mention of their recent criminal activities had already captured the attention of the blonde boy wielding a sword. He began inquiring about their 'label'. It wasn't hard to figure out, between Hotaru asking for about a navigator, and Triton chiding about them being 'dangerous criminals,' everyone on their half of the bar likely could make the assumption (and be correct) that they were, in fact, pirates.
"Depends."
Hotaru replied coldly.
"We ain't exactly the 'merry' sort, but if you can prove that that sword is for more than decoration, we may have a bunk open."
As for the brazen remarks from the new addition to the bar, Hotaru would turn and return fire, her left eyebrow raised in amusement and condescension.
"Why? You gonna arrest me 'officer'? Or maybe you're gonna try and take me out right here."
She glared at the dark skinned girl and cracked her knuckles in anticipation for a fist fight. Bar brawling wasn't exactly her favorite past time, but she would be lying if she pretended that she hadn't been in her fair share of alcohol fueled conflicts before. [/blockquote]

Triton was finishing off his drink just as the man next to him started speaking, and it took him a few seconds to even realize whom it was directed at. With a confused look, Triton would turn to face him, left hand wiping his mouth clean, signalling for a refill right after. It wasn't so much him asking if they were Pirates that didn't set well with Triton, it was more so his usage of the word 'merry'.
"Merry crew? Really?"
He literally laughed out loud, images of Pirates with parrots and peg-legs coming to mind - I mean, where else did you hear people describe themselves as a merry crew? His laughter died down to a quiet chuckle, and then finally his second drink was slid up to him, the large man only managing to get down another mouthful before a second person approached them - although this was was much less polite, and she didn't bring out laughter in Triton, more like annoyance,
"Who said anything about escaping?"
He spun around on his stool, anchor now pressed against the bar with the mug held in his right hand, eyes fixated on the female,
"If the Marines show up, I'll just crush them."
His smirk might suggest he was kidding around, but he was entirely serious, he was enjoying himself too much right now to leave! And heck, maybe they'd recruit some people while they were at it, the blonde-haired one on his left seeming to be the most interested. He figured his position as First Mate made him second-in-command, and he supposed this meant he could recruit, but I mean, there had to be some form of test surely! Tilting his head back, Triton would chug back the rest of his drink on the spot, slamming the mug down on the bar soon as he finished,
"Alright, you wanna join the crew blondy?"
Triton rose to his feet, his size forcing him to look down at the three around him, giving a particularly long look at the strange female, and then in one sudden motion Trition would turn and throw a punch at Cain, aiming to hit him in the face and knock him right off his seat,
"You're gonna hafta fight me first. . ."
Hit or miss, Triton would laugh and start walking backwards towards the door, it was best to take this outside after all - if he was up to the challenge that was!

Really?"
"We ain't exactly the 'merry' sort, but if you can prove that that sword is for more than decoration, we may have a bunk open."
Cain shrugged with a soft chuckle. Well, he never implied them to be the happiest bunch with merry. More or less, it was rather a random insert of a word brought on by the young man's own dreams of sailing the seas. There was that stereotypical view of pirates being merry bands of drunk and carefree adventurers, but Cain knew there was more than that. Nonetheless, that didn't mean he couldn't dream, right? He was still a kid at heart, after all. And then, Rin spoke up, and Cain turned to her, just as the other two did.
And once again, Cain had to wonder just where her loyalties lay. Was she a Marine, perhaps, and simply one that constantly wandered away from the fleets, or a bounty hunter? Whichever one of the two, it was natural that Cain was now even more wary about who she really was. Forget flirting. With his new status in his own home, Cain found it that much harder to trust strangers. Especially ones that had the potential to play the mind of one, just as Cain had a habit of.
He could not help but agree with the large man beside him, though. If the Marines did show up, Cain would probably find himself fighting for his freedom. He could run, but he wondered just how far he could go in this island. "Nice to see you again too." Cain simply shot at Rin, a soft scoff escaping his lips. His curiousity still leading his head, Cain turned to the two newcomers, as the large male proceeded to down his drink.
"Alright, you wanna join the crew blondy?"
Cain's eyes widened, as he blinked. Was he seriously being offered as such? Cain smirked, as he nodded his head, the man standing up on his feet. His eyes never left him, and it was easy enough then for the swordsman to catch the first heading towards his direction. His eyes widened, as he quickly kicked forward with his two feet, leaning his head back and pushing himself away from the table.
His chair fell backwards, with him still upon it. As soon as the back of the chair touched ground, Cain would follow the momentum of the drop and kick his legs up towards his chest, resulting in a backwards roll which ended with him upon one knee, looking up at the large man. Man, that was close.
"You're gonna hafta fight me first. . ."
Cain blinked with wide eyes again before he slowly got up on his feet, a sigh escaping his lips as he scratched the back of his head. No one said it was going to be that easy, after all. "Ah, well. Can't say no to that." Cain muttered as he took a few steps forward, picking the chair up. Then, leaning down, he picked up Harpe from atop his duffle bag, sheathe and all. Glancing towards Rin, he gave a soft bow.
"If you excuse me, I have to go for a bit. Wait till I return, will you? You owe me a name." And with a wide smirk, Cain proceeded to walk out of the bar, jerking his head to the side, cracking sounds emerging from his neck. And out of the bar he walked.
"So, if I win this, I get to be on your ship?" Cain inquired as he took a few steps to the side, putting himself in a safe reasonable distance from Triton.

The woman's words were a bit harsh, but then, that was what Rin had expected. Not everyone dealt with her mocking as well as cain, soon to be dubbed blondie by the loud man, had the other night. She eyed the loud guy as he downed his drink quickly and pretty much assaulted Cain, who was able to dodge. The loud man finally laughed and walked out, noting that their fight was to be outside. At least he was outside now. His voice was beginning to grate on her nerves. The tanned woman cut her eyes at Cain now, who still seemed to take interest in her presence, if his eyes were a little more cautious this time. As he left, he was courteous and also said that he expected a name when he got back. She smiled lightly. Why not? And with that, he left, leaving Rin alone with the red haired woman who still had an aura of authority that while powerful, also seemed a bit unorthodox. Rin picked up the glass and took a sip, using her other hand to wave the woman off of her last comment. "I was just commenting on what your loud friend was noting about your own weaknesses. And it just so happens that I know a navigator that wants to get off of this rock extremely badly." she finished, downing the last bit of the dark liquid. She turned in her chair to face Hotaru and leaned back on the bar some, her cloak still covering most of her body if not all of it, and looked her over well for the first time. Nothing extraordinary to pick up there except her interesting hair. But that wasn't a reason to doubt her skill in combat. And if the man before was any idea of what she wanted in a crew, it wasn't as if just sitting here was going to get her on the ship. "I suppose you will need a demonstration as well?" If the dark skinned girl was hoping to make a good first impression, she failed miserably. Hotaru found her attitude insufferable, and it was all the captain could to to keep from punching her across the bar right then and there.
"And I suppose that 'someone' would be you?"
She asked, waiting for the invariable confirmation that it would be her to be tested. Much like Triton and Cain, Hotaru would usher Rin outside. Nodding her head towards the door, Hotaru stared the purple haired girl down.

However, if she thought her test would be a simple brawl, she would be sadly mistaken. Navigators had to be smart, resourceful, and able to keep a calm mind in hectic situations. The captain of the crew would was ready to test the girls body and mind. With a smile, she left the bar ahead of Rin. The navigator had no idea what was in store.
