Humming happily to herself, Hilda strolled leisurely down one of the streets of Valkyn Arena without a care in the world, her eyes drifting across the view before her without direction. Nevertheless, the young girl avoided bumping into anyone as she walked, her red hair pulled into a small tail at the front bouncing up and down as she walked. Her radiant smile seemed to brighten up her face more than it would have otherwise, as if this girl's very happiness was enough to illuminate. Not that it actually was, but Hilda was a girl who lived in an idealistic world. She had ideas of what was right, and she worked hard to make it so.
Clad in a Marine uniform, it seemed almost a bit out of place on her. Not that she by no means had good intentions - on the contrary, many people said she was a nice person. But she was a child at heart. She acted like a kid half the time and as a result it made her look more like a kid playing dress-up than an actual Marine. But no matter how surprising it was, Hilda was definitely a Marine and very definitely an Ensign. The hook swords by her hips were even more stark a contrast to the girl's appearance. As if she'd never touched a weapon in her life. Yet nevertheless, here she was and here were her weapons. When you lived in Valkyn Arena, you learned to become proficient quickly.
Now arriving by the docks, Hilda beamed a broad grin as she saw the Marine battleship floating in the bay. She was ecstatic. She'd always wanted to be a Marine and now she finally was! She was determined to do her duty as a Marine and make the world a better place, little by little. And now it would begin here! Spotting someone by the battleship, clad in the same Marine uniform, Hilda grinned and strode up to whoever it was, offering a salute as she greeted her comrade. "Ensign Hilda Willenstark! Nice to meet you!" she declared with a salute, smiling still. It did well to make an impression!

Cool air drifted quietly without being too cold. In fact, for a girl like Lilith, who had been born in the more northern area of Micqueot, it felt quite mild. A small smile brushed her face as she disembarked the ship on the area around Valkyn arena. Her orders today were just to travel around the area and allow the citizens of the city to see her and know that the Marines were not oblivious to what happens in this district, even if they weren't ready to take direct action on the lawlessness of both Marines and Pirates here. From her spot on the dock, she watched the ship return to floating quietly in the bay. The couple of soldiers she took with her stood quietly awaiting orders without complaint until Lilith looked over to them and thought about what they should do first. It wouldn't be too quick if they went ahead into town and patrolled a bit. Maybe even check out the arena. "Ok, partner up an-" As she went to give the orders to her four subordinates, a voice chimed in behind her. Visibly, a shiver went up her back and she let out a tiny yip as she disappeared behind one of the bigger men. All four of them laughed boisterously, scolding their own captain sparingly. "Come on captain... its only a girl. And a marine to boot." He then addressed the girl as Lilith peeked out from behind him. "You will have to excuse our captain. She is a fierce as they come in battle... but outside of that, shes a bit unreliable."Lilith conked the man on the back of the head with her fist and they exchanged a couple of verbal jabs with consisted mostly of him defending his honesty and Lilith telling him not to tell the younger officers that she wasn't reliable. When finished, she turned back to the girl and introduced herself quietly. She wasn't very good at meeting new people after all. "I'm Captain Zenith."[/style][/style][style=float: left; margin-left: 20px; margin-top: 10px; height: 100px; width: 100px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/AkyMG.png); -webkit-border-radius: 50px; -moz-border-radius: 50px; border-radius: 0 0 0 50][/style][style=float: right; width: 150px; height: 100px; background-color: FFFFFF; opacity: 0.6; margin-right: 20px; margin-top: 10px; border-radius: 0 0 20 0][style=padding: 10px; opacity: 1.0; color: 000000; font-size: 9px; font-family: verdana; height: 130px; overflow: auto] music None. words Some. notes First Post.[/style][/style][/style][/td][/tr][/table][style=font-size: 8px]made by KING of PRE & OTE[/style][/center]

Hilda smiled, but then felt herself begin to stare as she watched the Marine she'd approached suddenly jump and hide herself behind one of her subordinates in abject fear. In spite of herself, Hilda couldn't help but laugh heartily along with the other subordinates at the admittedly exaggerated reaction of the young woman. Still, she smiled in a friendly manner and looked back to the woman as the other Marines spoke up, telling of how unreliable the Captain was outside of battle, earning said Marine an annoyed smack on the head. Hilda just continued to chuckle, finding the whole thing reminiscent of a comedy routine. But then something caught her attention and she fixed her gaze on the young woman before her.
"Oh, this is Captain Zenith? How cute! I scared a Captain~" she chimed before giggling like a little girl. Which she pretty much was as far as personalities went. She could hear a couple of other chuckles from the other men. Then of course, Hilda remembered courtesy. Straightening herself up she saluted again to Captain Zenith's face. She still couldn't help but find it cute how the Captain reacted to such small things. It was really quite amusing. Usually Captains were supposed to be tough and stern and feared nothing. Or at least, that was the mental image inside of Hilda's head. They were all supposed to be like that, weren't they? But it seemed Captain Zenith was an exception. If Hilda didn't know any better, the Captain was a fairly normal person.
"So, Captain Zenith! Do I have any orders? Do I have to fight pirates?" she asked, raising a brow as she stared up like an excited little kid eager to please. Which she kind of was, really. Just a bit taller and more well-developed. She had a pretty simple image in her mind of what Marines did. They made sure people didn't do bad things and fought Pirates. She also had a simple image of Pirates in her head - People who did bad things and sailed around everywhere. All of life was neatly categorized in such a way. Made things a lot less confusing. Which was exactly how Hilda liked it.

It wasn't every day a girl younger than Lilith laughed at her. But... it wasn't like nothing had been done to deserve it... The surprise appearance of the little marine behind her wasn't expected. Combined with the skittish nature that Lilith boasted, such an action resulted in the embarrassing hilarity that befell her just seconds ago. Still, her marines quieted back down when she rapped the biggest one on the back of the head more as a symbol than an attempt to hurt or scold him. The little ensign still seemed pleased with her work, to the disquiet of her victim. But that time passed quickly and she saluted again, ready to follow orders that Lilith wasn't sure she wanted to give. There were already four subordinates with her... But then again, This one asked with such eagerness, she couldn't just make her wait for the ship... "Our orders aren't to cause trouble today, but come with us. We are just going on a patrol and letting the residents of the town see us." It was relatively simple, but the plan wasn't completely without its dangers. They could wander across some sort of mischief that needed to be dealt with. "Let us go then." She said to her company and started down the pier on the way to the town surrounding the arena. Hilda listened closely as her Captain began to speak, informing her of their duties. One thing was for certain - even if Hilda acted like a child, she was at least very attentive. She was willing to listen. It was but a small drop of maturity in an ocean of childishness, but it was a sort of maturity nonetheless. Still, she wouldn't deny that just a small part of her was slightly disappointed they wouldn't be taking that kind of action. Yet another part of her, however, shushed that part and told it to sod off. Keeping that bright expression on her face, the young Marine girl smiled and nodded. Hey, it did well to keep optimistic. Maybe patrolling would be fun! At the very least, she figured she'd feel good doing something to help out.
"Aye aye, Captain Zenith!" she responded as she quickly followed the Captain's lead, strolling alongside her with a spring in her step whilst humming a pleasant tune. She moved at her own, excitable pace just behind the Captain, her eyes focused on her Captain. Well, she was an interesting person, anyway. Hilda was excited to get to know her better. Of course, she enjoyed making friends of most people she met. Valkyn Arena tended not to produce particularly friendly people. Tourists, sure, but the inhabitants of this land were surrounded by violence and fighting day after day. You became accustomed to it, and you made it a part of your life whether you liked it or not. Hilda definitely didn't.
"Uh... I was also wondering..." Hilda began thinking for a moment. "If we're patrolling the island to let people see us... Maybe we should patrol the arena itself? Most of the people who come here go there...".

She had been expecting a pirate brawl, and it wasn't like that couldn't still happen, Lilith's orders were not to deliberately instigate trouble by arresting people unless it was necessary. A quick smile crossed her face and she tussled the girl's hair a bit before continuing to walk. Marines kept getting younger and younger, not that she had any room to talk... only nineteen and a captain. But it was a dangerous life, that was a fact. As they walked through the streets, Lilith could hear whispers here and there, wondering what a back of marines in their uniforms could be doing here. Again, a known fact, marines that weren't on duty came here and gambled on people's lives and pain like the rest. It sickened the young captain. They were to protect the peace, not bet on who could bloody the other one to a pulp first. A quick suggestion quipped out of the new member of their little group, and it was considered. "I suppose we could, but stay close to the men around you, I won't have any of my subordinates getting touched by these scound-" before she could finish, she tripped over a box jutting out from a nearby shop, teetering twice on one toe before falling in loud box breaking manner. Her face was red when she stood back up, rubbing the parts that had hit the box, which was now broken in several spots. "Captain. You really should watch where you are going. One of these days, you are going to run into something more harmful than a box." chimed in one of the men following behind. A quick glare cut them off, but they started to continue until interrupted again. "Captain... you forgot something." She turned back and noticed that her katana, pure white in sheath and handle lay on the box where it had gotten hung. "S-s-shut up. I was focused on something else." she stammered while her face flushed again. The men all smiled brightly as they made sure to pay for the broken box as well before the group made their ascent into the arena. The Captain wasn't the only one who heard the whispers. Even as she walked along, the young Marine girl couldn't help but feel a nagging at the back of her mind as she heard their whispering. What of Marines who decided to bet on people's lives? It wasn't like she'd never seen them before. But it wasn't how it should be. Marines shouldn't be gambling on fighting. Marines should be protecting the innocent. The weak. Those unable to fight themselves. That was why Hilda had been so excited when she was allowed to become a Marine. She wanted to help people, to make sure those left crying would be allowed to smile again. But most of all-
The Captain tripped over a box.
Hilda almost burst out in hysterics. She hadn't expected her Captain to show that kind of clumsiness. She'd only been with the Captain for a few minutes, but already she was finding it incredibly fun working with her. Or at least trying to. Still chuckling a little, she watched the Captain stand back upright with a red face, though whether that was from impact from the ground or embarrassment was a little vague. Attempting to restrain the laughter, Hilda kept her hand up in front of her mouth, though it was still clear how the corners of her mouth curled and how her eyes shone brightly. Well, she was a young girl. Easily amused and all that.
"Aha, Captain Zenith... Are you alright?" she couldn't help but still chuckle as she said it. It was just too amusing. She really, really couldn't help it. Still, she stifled the laughter for her Captain's sake. "The Captain's so funny when she's mad... " she thought to herself, observing as one of the men handed back to the Captain her weapon. A katana which she hadn't paid attention to earlier. Another swords woman, then? Well, their swords were completely different. Hilda's were hookswords, designed to be wielded as a pair, whilst this woman used a single blade. Well, it was interesting how varied different styles could be at any rate. Once they finished paying the shopkeeper for the damages, they continued to the arena.
"Why do some Marines bet on matches...?" Hilda whispered, reminded of her earlier thoughts as she wandered through the town with the others. She was certain the others hadn't heard her say that, but you could never be too sure. She was still young, so she was a little naive, but still she wanted to know just why there could be people willing to bear the Marine's symbol and still turn corrupt. It disgusted her more than the Pirates themselves.

It wasn't really perceptible, but irrelevant or not, it made her feel a little better. After all, captains were supposed to be stoic powerful figures, not ditsy little women. But here she was, supposed to enforce justice, which to her, was the most important thing she could possibly do. Those people that cried out for help would be answered if Lilith could help it. But now she was patrolling through a scum filled street where street-side brawls and murders were almost commonplace. And an arena stood right beside where murder was legal. Just the atmosphere of this place made her skin crawl. If it was her choice, an entire crew of marines would come and shut this place down completely. But that wouldn't do; apparently there were more pressing matters to attend. As she squirmed and wriggled her way through the crowd, making sure that the others could follow her, it wasn't hard to hear the sounds of the battle going on in the arena now. The clash of swords was audible from the entrance. The girl voiced another question, and for a second, Lilith didn't answer. How could one explain that there was some crude enjoyment that they got from the blood; that some marines didn't care for helping others as much as just getting the paycheck. "I don't know how to answer that correctly. But the marines that do won't be part of my contingent, I can tell you that much. This place sickens me." So they continued in, during which time, a fowl mouthed man reached for the newest member of her group and provoked a quick retaliation from the handle of Lilith's sword in his gut. Hilda remained unnaturally silent after she received her answer. She disliked the idea that there was even one Marine - one supposed good guy - who would disregard his orders and gamble away like he didn't care, disregarding that sense of Justice and duty that all Marines should have. It sickened Hilda to her core to know there were people like that. But more than that, it disturbed her. To know there were people weak to corruption. She'd always preferred the simple things in life. She preferred to just think of Marines as good guys and the Pirates as bad guys. Being forced to face the fact that there were some Marines capable of things she'd associate with Pirates was just too disturbing.
Lost in her thought, the young girl hadn't even anticipated the man approaching her with a bladed weapon. Before she needed to act however, the Captain immediately stepped in, slamming the hilt of her sword into the man's stomach. Hilda gasped and then blinked, watching as he collapsed to the ground from the hit. She hadn't even noticed him approaching. Now on her guard, she looked ahead to see that this man was not the only one. A small gang of people stood with their weapons, staring at the group of Marines called out here. Hilda bit her lower lip and grasped her own hookswords, ready to pull them out just in case. She'd imagined, of course, that there might be someone out there looking for a fight with the Marines. Some law breaker acting out. Before she'd been enthusiastic. Now?
She was simultaneously fearful and excited.
It was like she was about to tap into an adrenaline rush. Even just the failed ambush on her got her heart beating fast. She wasn't sure what it was. Was she just a thrill-seeker too, like these people? She refused to believe it. No, she was just excited because now she could right some wrongs. People always lived here by Survival of the Fittest, with no care for the innocents or the weak. Hilda became a Marine because she wanted to change that. The men did not back down in the face of a retaliation. Instead, they drew their weapons and stepped forwards with those sinister, bloodthirsty looks in their eyes. Drawing her own hookswords for the fight that was about to become, she briefly looked to her Captain.
"Sorry, Captain Zenith... I wasn't paying attention. But we have some more to focus on now..." she spoke to her Captain, apologizing for her lack of attention. Now, she was fully focused on these people and nothing else. She just hoped things didn't get ugly.

A few, however didn't back up. It seemed that they were friends of the man now writing a little on the ground trying to catch that breath that was alleviated by the captain. The other marines drew their sabers, causing quite a few of the onlookers to run off in different directions and the rest to back up a few more meters. drawing her katana out of her sash, sheath and all, Lilith spoke up before the situation got any worse. "We weren't here to arrest anyone. But this man attacked a marine and will be serving a prison sentence. For today, you can all go free, but the marines are here to stop the violence around this arena. Remember that."As calm as before, she waited for the men to either drop their weapons and leave, or make a move. Quite a few left, but the four still there didn't seem intimidated. They all stood, rather menacingly, towering over Lilith. Two of them bigger than the biggest marine standing behind her. That didn't matter. By the way they moved, she could tell they were just thugs that got by intimidating normal people. They were strong, but not skilled. [style= width:400px; font-size:9px; letter-spacing:0px; line-height:10px; text-align:justify;] At the captain's words, the group of four burst into laughter.
The largest one, a bald brute with an iron bat in his hand clutched at his stomach and said, "Are you hearin' this chick? 'The Marines are here to stop the violence in this area.'" His voice rose a few octaves, giving a rather awful imitation of the captain standing nearby.
The brute's group continued to laugh with him, tears practically streaming out of their eyes. Soon enough, blood lust seemed to fill the air around them, and the group stepped forward, weapons at the ready.
"We'll show you and your little team of pipsqueaks who's boss..." At the word pipsqueaks, two of them grinned at the smallest one, Hilda. The bald headed one approached, standing right in front of his fallen teammate. Smirking, he kicked the man writhing on the ground with such force that it sent him flying towards Lilith. The goon on his right, the shortest one with a dagger in his hand, quickly ran at Hilda, making an attempt to grab the girl.
It seemed those two foolishly believe they could take on a squad of Marines and their captain. The other two thugs hung back, weapons still at the ready. One of them, the second tallest, disappeared into a nearby alleyway, hoping to be unnoticed.

Hilda stared up at the taller men with a look of disgust. She was almost ready to sneer. She didn't want to seem improper, but something about these guys, beyond how obviously bad they were, ticked her off. Maybe it was the implication they'd made that she was weak. Young, yes. Perhaps a bit short, or at least the shortest one here. But weak? She gripped the handles of her hook swords tighter, holding them up at the ready for the fight that was sure to come. She watched how they laughed at her Captain. She didn't know the Captain that long and she certainly didn't know her well, but something about her felt insulted as well when they laughed at her Captain as well. It was at that point she made a decision.
Justice was gonna open a can.
The smallest made a rush for her, brandishing a knife as he reached out for her to grab her with his other hand. Big mistake. Immediately, Hilda's arm swung out as she stepped forwards, deflecting his grabbing arm away from her whilst simultaneously swinging her arm so that the hook would smash into the back of his head. On the off chance he dodged, the second sword would swing inwards to catch his leg and sweep him off of his feet. In spite of her childish attitude and appearance, right now Hilda bore an expression of irritation and disgust. She didn't intend on holding back. If these guys were going to pick a fight with the Marines, she'd show them one hell of a fight. She'd make them regret messing with them. Each and every one of them.

A marine captain standing there with one thug already disabled, and these men still couldn't see past the nineteen year old features of the authority in front of them. They even had the nerve to refer to her as "this chick." Her face angled down into a frown while the men seemed to turn more dark and prepared for a conflict. Her hand slid to her sword again, flipping it over, so when she drew, the back of the sword would be on the outside. A split second later, a body was flying at her. Not the able body of the villains still ready to fight, but the defeated man from before... they kicked him at her. Reading his trajectory, Lilith stepped forward and delivered a kick of her own, sending him down, but first, at the ground before her. Head first could have been a death sentence, but as it stood, the marine captain held back and spun his body to protect him. A glance over at Hilda relayed that she was doing fine. Her hook swords looked to be fine blades, and her skill with them wasn't minuscule. Her black shoes slid a bit under the man and with a tense of her leg, she slid him back to the others. "Detain him please." she said while he groaned. Then her attention returned to the rest of the annoyances before her. [style= width:400px; font-size:9px; letter-spacing:0px; line-height:10px; text-align:justify;]People peeked at the commotion through the windows of their houses and through doors. The noise of the arena seemed to die down a bit in comparison. A fruit vendor rounded the corner, but immediately froze once he saw what was going on. The fruit vendor looked at the scene from behind the largest, bald one and paled.
The third thug, the one who disappeared in the alleyway was still nowhere in sight. What could have possibly happened to him?
Lilith's crew saluted their captain, giving a strong "Yes, ma'am!". They immediately detained the groaning thug, stepping back in the process. They simply wanted to watch their captain's actions and see the look of shock on the new Ensign's face at their captain's skill. Of course, they also wanted to see how the new Marine fought.
The smallest one, hereby dubbed Evil Man # 4, screamed out in pain as the back of his head was struck by Hilda. He fell to the floor face first, breaking his nose in the process. Blood gushed from his deformed face as he curled himself up in shivering ball. His dagger lay on the ground next to him, useless without a wielder. It wasn't surprising that he was weak.
He laid there, directly in front of Hilda's feet when his comrade attacked. The leftover, the second tallest man (Now considered Brutal Thug # 2), struck soon after Hilda had incapacitated Brutal Thug # 4. He ran forward, sluggishly, as the giant hammer he was carrying was extremely heavy. The swing was slow and steady, but it was obvious that if Hilda was hit with that it would do much more than knock the wind out of her. He took care not to step over Brutal Thug # 4, as he seemed to care a bit more for his co-worker.
The largest one, however, (Now dubbed Brutal Baldy # 1) simply laughed at the spectacle. It didn't seem he cared much for his comrade's well being, as evident by the fact that he kicked his other fallen comrade into Lilith.
Instead of attacking, however, he continued to laugh. Wheezing, he said, "Ahaha! You just roughed up my boys a bit and dodged my attack, and you're already gettin' cocky! They're such good-for-nothings. I have to do everything myself around here!" The brutal baldy seemed to be all talk, for he stood there, bat still in hand. He grinned eerily at the captain, almost as if waiting for something.
(Note: Bear with me. The stupid names are so I don't keep having to say he all the time and so you don't get confused. Valk, no worries. I get what you're trying to convey. ^.^ Long NPC post is long for a reason.)

Hilda grit her teeth as she saw the man lugging his huge hammer, moving towards her just as she downed the first man. A worthless fighter if there ever was any, but this man would be a pain. Slow, perhaps, but obviously powerful. There was no point trying to fight him directly. Instead, Hilda swung her free hook sword upwards whilst simultaneously sidestepping, intending to deflect the hammer's descent just enough for her to avoid being crushed beneath it's heavy swing. Sure enough, she deftly avoided the weapon, stopping herself as she now stood to the man's side. This was her chance to take the man out.
"Out of my way," she told him, now moving forth with her dual weapons. Swinging both hook swords in an x-shaped slash, she intended to tear out the man's side with the sharp hook of her blades. He'd regret messing with her or the Marines. Hilda was a nice girl, most of the time. But she didn't have mercy for criminals. Kill or be killed. That was how Valkyn Arena worked. She hadn't killed her first opponent, but that didn't mean she wouldn't have been willing to use lethal force if necessary. All the same, she wasn't holding back against this hammer-wielding brute either. She'd tear him apart limb from limb if need be.
