Marik was sat at his office behind his large desk. His personal time was currently occupied by him playing a game of friendly chess against himself as a means for him to find more tips and ticks in the strategy filled game. He would have welcomed some other low life marine to come play with him if he so desired. But, that was exactly it - he didn't desire anyone to ruin his peace except himself. Of course playing with himself was not as interesting, but still it was good to spend quality time with one's self every now and then.
On him he wore his usual mannered white dress shirt, with black slacks, his hair well groomed, his handkerchief tucked into his shirt like a man that could only be build. He was about to make the final touches on his fifth game of the day, by conquering the white king with his black king, when he heard the soft knock at his door. His chin was propped on his left hands, and with a smile he spoke loud enough for the slightly unwanted visitor, "Come in."
Behind the door appeared one of the many Petty Officers that inhabited the Marine's base who stood at attention in his presence as a form of mannerism; a person with manners was always pleasant to see in Marik's eyes. "Sir. I have a important message here from the Rear Admiral," the officer said, and Marik would offer out his arm to take the rolled up note, then the officer would leave without another word.
After the officer left Marik read through through the note, while setting up the chess board for another game. He already had a smirk printed at his lips, but it grew a little more when he was completely finished reading the Admiral's note. Another troublesome mission ehh, he though to himself as he rose to his feet. I swear these Admirals do nothing but sit around all day and give orders all day. If he could have he would have long killed the admirals for giving him these troublesome missions so much on a daily basis. But he needed them for the time being if he was going to accomplish any of his goals, so he had to deal with it for the time being. Still, he was a little pleased to have a mission though - in spite how troublesome; sitting around all day playing chest with himself had it's limit in interest.
Grabbing his cloak high collared black cloak and quickly equipping his electronic grappling hook, Marik left the room shutting the door behind him and down the halls. His mission said that at the docks a group of hooligan pirates had arrive and was vandalize the market vendors; he hadn't read the rest though as common sense could tell him what the rest of it was. He wasn't sure if he was to kill them or not, but he was not into killing people, so he wouldn't nevertheless - at least if he was pushed to that point.
He arrived moments later at the docks, where he saw several of the large pirate ships that were docked there. Loguetown was always common for pirates ships, and Marines were always too lazy to even look for those that were a serious threat. He was being a little hypocritical in his statement of course as he wasn't excluded from that bundle, but in his defense he unlike the higher ups needed permission to capture pirates.
Walking further to the docks, Marik sighted several of those vandalizing pirates, who were at the time taking the market vendors fruits, and liquor and eating/drinking them - doing such like the animals they were. The way they ate slightly turned his stomach as he was a man of mannerism, but still he kept his expression filled with his cunning smirk. He had gone unseen so far by the pirates, so he had to say something to draw their attention.
"What's going on here?" Marik simply asked, maintaining his smile. He wasn't one to get hostile easily as he understood how most humans acted using instincts to get by - especially pirates. He knew it was in a pirates nature to vandalize cities on a daily basis. That wasn't to say he would allow it, but it was to say that he knew how simple minded persons would only regret things when it was far too late - which was the case for the pirates he now faced. He didn't need to start beating on them, or take action immediately as at the end of the day he would not let them get away regardless.

You approach the gang and singlehandedly decide to take on 6 brutish and slightly intoxicated pirates. All are armed, one with a rifle, another with a flintlock pistol, two with katanas, a fifth with a large hammer, and the last with length of metal chain. Snickering, one of the sword wielders yells back at the Marine.
"What's it to you, fancy hair!? Can't you worthless marines just mind 'er own business?"
The whole gang erupted into a fit of laughter at this remark, and the thug with the pistol strapped to his belt thought he would give harassing an officer a try.
"Why dont'cha just move along. I'd hate to mess up that frilly little outfit of yers! DOHOHOHO"
Armed with only two grappling hooks, i'm sure even Marik is wondering how he's going to get out of this mess. [/blockquote]

Marik chuckled lightly to himself at the sword's man remark, Marik stared at them with his usual cunning smile still printed at his lips and facial expression. It was natural for pirates to be arrogant; some would say it was stereotypical to the point where arrogance was a necessary trait to be a pirate. Despite his great memory capacity, even he couldn't remember how many pirates he had run across that were like the one's he now face. Sadly, all had met the same fate from that simply minded arrogance they had.
He said nothing of the hooligans compliment and simply brushed if off as he preferred to take the time to hopefully gauge the gangs strengths and weaknesses. From what he could see much of them were drunken to the point where it would have made his task a little easier. Still that factor didn't make it a cake walk though as they were all armed. The two with the guns would be the most troublesome, so Marik already planned out on getting rid of them first if possible. All them had their own fair share of muscle compared to his scrawny frame, so him, being as unfit as he was, engaging in direct physical contact where strength was necessary would be the worst of his choices. Still in combat, it was sometimes hard to fight with one's best preferred range, so if physical contact was necessary he would have his speed to fall back on.
The thug with the pistol step forth ahead of the bunch, and spoke. Marik laughed once more at the entire bunches arrogance though as he ran a hand through his hair, after which he quickly aimed the grappling hook on his right arm at the pistol the man held and fired it by a simple press of the contraption in his palm. The grappling hook was almost as fast as bullets, so they wouldn't have been able to react to them. He took the pistol into his arms and aimed them at the man who held the rifle for precautions sake as he spoke.
"Unless you want to die, I recommend you all turn yourselves in. If you do I can even try to make your punishment a little less," he said holding the pistol at ready. He was a man of his word so what he said would be true, but still he had little power among the Marine ranks, so his effort would likely be in vain.
He wasn't exactly accurate, but he was within a good enough range to blow the rifle holder's head of if he was to make a move; still this had put him in a slight disadvantage as his right arm was now occupied with the weapon. It was a good opportunity for the sword and and chain users to attack him, but still if anything he would improvise to the situation to suite. He was analytic as usual, so without them noticing he had caught sight of several things he could retract with the help of his grappling hook to help the situation. Things he could swing on to get pass them, and things like scattered watermelons, and other fruits which he could just as easily use as distractions.

"YER THE ONE WHO'LL END UP DEAD YOU LACE WEARING MARINE GIRL"
The troop of pirates roared in unified laughter, when suddenly the flintlock pistol fired a round from 5 meters away directly at the chest of Marik. This signified the start of the fight, and all of the pirates began their different combat strategies.
Flintlock Pistol; After unloading the payload of his weapon, the pistol user ducked down a nearby alley to reload, however, he most certainly would be back very soon.
Rifle; The rifle user also disappeared down the same alley, albeit for an unknown reason. Perhaps he hadnt loaded his rifle yet?
Katana 1 & 2; The katana wielders unsheathed their swords and ran down the cobblestone street, each approaching one of Marik's flank.
Hammer; The hammer user, though slower than the sword wielders, also brandished his large weapon and rushed forward, approaching Marik straight on.
Chain; The chain wielder began swinging a portion of the 5 meter length of weapon above his head, preparing for any attacks Marik would make with his still unseen weapons.
--6v1 are never good odds. What will your next move be?

As the man had fire a few shorts of his flintlock pistol, Marik had anticipated the pirates wouldn't go down easy so he already had planned ahead. Even so, the shots fired at him gave him no time to react so with that slight moment, he ducked to the right in a attempt to dodge the attack; his speed was not exactly great though so the shot had went into his arms. He hissed at the pain, but didn't let it hinder him too much that the men would get the upper hand over him; but his left arm wouldn't be easily function-able again for a while.
He had kept his eyes focus on all the men even in the midst of his dodge, and had notice as the man with the flintlock ducked into a alley along with the other with the rifle; he had wanted to pay him back a little to compensate for the damage dealt to his arms. Furthermore, firearms were much more efficient long range items than his grappling hooks could ever be, so he was predetermined from the start of the fight to get rid of them first.
The swordsmen and the hammer user were already approaching him - the hammer user a little slower because of his hammer's weight. While the men approached him, long before then Marik had took note of the several window ledges around, so he had used his undamaged right arm to fire his grappling hook at a window ledge, to the right, and allowed it to contract him up to the point; which would initially cause the men to miss their attack. He then slung the hook once more at another ledge, that was near the alley the rifle and flintlock user had ducked into, after which he would use it to glide over to the alley the two were in and would attempt to kick them while they were reloading their weapons; if connected it would effectively send them flying backwards. They wouldn't have had much time to notice, and even if they did it was unlikely for them to react, as they were busy reloading their weapons before then and wouldn't have expected him to come from above, so the gift of surprise was at Marik's advantage.
In the event his attack was to be dodged, he would sling right by and land behind them, in the small alley path, a good thirty or so feet away; that way he would have much more space to allow him chance to dodge any further bullets. In the alley there was a large trash bin to his right that he could duck behind for cover from further attacks from the firearms. The buildings surrounding the alley was also short enough for him to use his hook to claw to and sling up onto the tops.

You've taken a bullet, which will continue to weigh on your ability to perform in combat. By shooting your grappling hook to the window ledge, you manage to avoid the melee fighters, at least temporarily. However, those are only half of danger.
Hammer, Katana 1 and Katana 2: All turn around to chase you, however, your swinging speed is too fast for them to react this turn.
Chain The chain wielder takes your new air born position as an opportunity, and whips the heavy chain at you as you swing to the alley. Continuing on the current path will likely result in you getting hit, however, kicking the building to swing out over the street will let you evade the strike. Doing this, however, will make your sneak attack on those in the alley much less...sneaky.
Guns The gunners are still gone. Where could they be!? Your best guess is down the alley, however, enough time has passed for them to have potentially relocated. [/blockquote]

The chain user served as a good long range combatant much like the two firearm users. He had swung the chain at him with enough precision that Marik would take some good damage if he was hit by it. Still the chain was still easily seen so he was given enough time to react. He would have taken the risk, if his other arm wasn't damage, grab a hold of the chain and attempt to pry it from the man's arm, but that was not a good strategy since the man would be much stronger than him, and so could easily pull him along with it instead. Marik kicked against the building that would allow him to dodge the chain, and just as quickly swung out over the street and back into the alley. As he landed with the alley he didn't see any of the two gunmen, and so he took a quick search of the surrounding. He didn't spot them so far, but he did expect to see the rest of men running down the alley towards him shouting threats as they did so. Spending his entire time searching around for the two gunmen would likely be a waste of time so Marik concurred on taking the approach of dealing with the men ahead of him first. To his sides were several metal trash bins that he could take advantage of, and so he would throw two of them at the men who were coming down the alley. He saw something above head that he could retract to and lashed out his grappling hook at that. He allowed it to retract up to the point where he could use his new position in the air to attempt a air attack down to the men down below. When he did he took a quick glance over the rooftops of the two buildings that cornered the alley as he had a hunch that the two men would have gone up there. Once he would come down with his attack, the sun would probably serve as a way to blind their vision as it was blazing above head, so it would possibly hinder their vision enough for him to deliver a downward kick on one of them and potentially knock them out due to the downward force of the attack. After that attack he would likely be placed in the midst of all the men which would make him pretty vulnerable. Still Marik would use the whip feature of his hook and first sling it at the man with the chain since he would be the most dangerous at the time. Still he wouldn't have hope to stay in the spot too long since the gunmen probably were ready for shot at anytime, making his best hope to stay on the move so that they couldn't get a proper aim on him. There wasn't much place that he had spotted that the gunmen could hide in less than a ten meter radius, so his potential of dodging any oncoming bullets was look good. If they were on the rooftops he would have spotted them, so things seemed clear to say the least in terms of his fair of being sniped out at any given time.

As you swing into the alley with all the grace of someone who was perhaps bitten by a radioactive spider and obtained some of the spiders powers without becoming physically deformed in some way, you find that the passageway is, in fact, not empty. The man who shot you earlier is just finishing up reloading his pistol, and his eyes lock onto you. Eep.
Melee The melee weapon wielders are closing in, and you can hear their cheers and chants from behind you. They will likely be directly upon you in the next post.
Chain The soft weapon user has reeled in his weapon and is now looking down the alley from the street side, swinging the chain above his head and ready to make a move.
Rifle: The rifle user has relocated from his place on the alley's floor to the tops of the roofs, and is standing at the top of the building just a few meters away with his weapon aimed down at you. Just as your feet touch down on the alley floor, the rifleman fires his payload down from above, aimed at the top of your left shoulder.

The rifleman was, in fact, not in the alley. He was on top of the building, watching your actions from above. You were unable to watch him ascend the walls to the roof since he was already there when you appeared in the alley. As a result of this oversight, the round shot by the rifleman buries itself deeply in your left shoulder, making use of your upper arm and shoulder extremely painful and almost impossible.
A few moments after the attack from above, the pistol user would shoot at you again, this shot aimed right at your torso, fired from just 3 meters away.
The chain user throws his weapon at you, either after taking the hit from the pistol user or after dodging it in an attempt to snare you in the metal links of his chain. If that wasn't enough, the three melee fighters are now at the entrance of the alley, blocking escape back into the street. The gunners, who have both spent their ammo, will begin to reload where they stand, seemingly unafraid of anything your grappling hooks can do to hinder their ability to fight back with empty guns.
